In 2024, significant events impacted the dietary supplements market: investigations by the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) and the adoption of the Draft Law "On Dietary Supplements" in the second reading.
The AMCU actively investigated violations of legislation protecting against unfair competition and imposed fines totaling over UAH 15.5 million. All cases related to dietary supplements concerned labeling information, specifically false or misleading advertising claims and prohibited information about medicinal or preventive properties.
Draft Law No. 11389, "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine to Improve the Regulation of the Production and Circulation of Dietary Supplements and to Address Other Health Care Issues," aims to enhance the regulation of dietary supplement production and circulation. It defines clear mechanisms for placing dietary supplements on the market, specifies the list of components allowed for their production, and strengthens liability for the manufacturing and selling of dietary supplements that do not meet legislative requirements.
